A Small Standard Flower Show “Grandma Says”

The Livonia Garden Club is going to have a Small, Standard Flower Show called ” Grandma Says ” at the Bennett/Civic Center Library in July. Submitting horticultural exhibits is open to the public (the design categories are open to club members only). Exhibits must be brought to the library between 8:30 and 11 AM on July 8. The design arrangements and horticulture exhibits will be judged between 12 – 2PM on July 8 and may then be viewed from 3-5 PM on Friday and on July 9 from 9AM to 4PM in the library atrium.
The club will also present several interactive education presentations in the Michigan room on July 9. This schedule is:
10 AM: The Frightened Frog, an Environmental Tale.” Come to a reading of this book that addresses climate change. The targeted age group for the book is K-4th Grade. Fun frog facts will be presented. The Livonia Garden Club donated this book to all Livonia Elementary Schools and the three libraries. One lucky winner will take home the book!
11 AM: “Eat Your Veggies and Plant Them Too.” How to grow plants from kitchen scraps.
1 PM: “Growing Marigolds.” Learn to collect, store and plant seeds from year to year. Free marigold seeds will be available to start you off.
2 PM: “Community Flowers.” Make a small arrangement in a tea cup to give away to someone in your neighborhood.
The Livonia Garden Club, a member of Michigan Garden Clubs, Inc., and National Garden Clubs, Inc., was organized in 1969 and Federated in 1970. Our objectives are to encourage interest in all phases of gardening, flower arranging, environmental responsibility, and better horticulture practices.
